THE
HUNGER
PROJECT
The Hunger Project - The Hunger Project is a strategic organization and global movement committed to the sustainable end of chronic hunger — the silent killer that takes the lives of 20,000 of our fellow human beings every day. www.thp.org
Sarvodaya Movement - Sarvodaya, Sri Lanka’s biggest charity, is dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of rural Sri Lankans. Our grassroots movement now reaches 15,000 villages in 34 districts with 1,500 staff throughout Sri Lanka.
Founded by a Sri Lankan schoolteacher in 1958, our philosophy is based on Buddhist-Gandhian philosophy and we work across all ethnic and religious communities. We are dedicated to the sustainable empowerment of people through self-help and collective support, to non-violence and peace. http://www.sarvodaya.org/
Share Our Strength - Share Our Strength is a national nonprofit that inspires and organizes individuals and businesses to share their strengths in innovative ways to help end childhood hunger in America and abroad. http://www.strength.org/
Ethos Water - Founded in 2002, Ethos™ Water takes a unique approach to doing business -- it is the bottled water that helps children around the world get clean water. It's a powerfully simple concept...Water for Water.
E
very time you purchase a bottle of Ethos water, 5 cents is contributed towards their target goal of raising at least $10 million over five years. By transforming every purchase into an opportunity, we can directly engage a growing community to help solve the world water crisis. http://www.ethoswater.com/
The Lunchbox Fund –LOGO TO COME
After Nelson Mandela was elected as President of South Africa in 1994 he undertook to care for the children of the country. One of his initiatives was a feeding program for underprivileged children in schools. This was successfully established at a primary school level nation wide. However the government is yet to subsidize pre- and secondary schools.
Founded in May 2004, The Lunchbox Fund aims to promote the fundamental tenets of basic human existance by providing disadvantaged and impoverished pre- and secondary school children with the food they need to help them achieve their goals in life.
It hopes to help African communities break the cycles of hunger and poverty by partnering with local school systems and business leaders to provide food and support to these at risk children.
Despite the intended objectives of globalization, the gap between the rich, developed countries, and the poor, less developed countries is widening every day. Those who do not have the technical capabilities and infrastructure fall even further behind and become stuck in a cycle of poverty. www.thelunchboxfund.org

The Grameen Bank - Grameen Bank (GB) has reversed conventional banking practice by removing the need for collateral and created a banking system based on mutual trust, accountability, participation and creativity. GB provides credit to the poorest of the poor in rural Bangladesh, without any collateral. As of July, 2004, it has 3.7 million borrowers, 96 percent of whom are women. With 1267 branches, GB provides services in 46,000 villages, covering more than 68 percent of the total villages in Bangladesh.
